Angela grew up in a small farming community in rural Nebraska. While at college in Nebraska, she organized students in opposition to an anti-gay constitutional amendment, advocated for a domestic partner health benefits plan for faculty and students, and became involved in a number of other civil rights issues. As a result of her public service and academic accomplishments, she was named a Truman Scholar and graduated with honors. Ms. Clements went on to work at the Human Rights Campaign in Washington, D.C. where she lobbied Congress to advance employment non-discrimination protections to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender workers. She also worked on the successful defeat of the Federal Marriage Amendment in 2004 and 2006. Ms. Clements received her law degree from UC Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) in 2009. She is currently a Legal Fellow at Berkeley Law's Center for Health, Economic, and Family Security.
