Noah Lupica

Scholar Class – 2012

In 2011 Noah was awarded a research fellowship to conduct microbiological stem cell research at The Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory. Then, in 2012, he was awarded another research fellowship to conduct type 1 diabetes research, this time at The Jackson Laboratory.

As a student in the 8-year, “Program in Liberal Medical Education” (PLME) at Brown University, Noah intends to concentrate in “Science and Society,” and expects to graduate from Brown in 2016 before going on to earn his medical degree from the Alpert Medical School in 2020.

In his time at Brown, Noah has been a leader within the trans* and gender non-conforming community and an active voice for change campus-wide. Noah is the co-founder of “Trans* Programing and Gender Education” and holds leadership positions within the student groups “GenderAction” and “Queer People and Allies for the Advancement of Medicine.” Areas of Noah's past victories and ongoing advocacy work include: campus wide gender-neutral housing options, the inclusion of gender confirmation within the Brown Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), re-branding and publishing an updated listing of university resources for trans* and gender nonconforming students at Brown, as well as efforts to educate the larger Brown community and foster university-wide allyship behind these issues.

Point offers mentorship, leadership development and community service training to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) students.
