Welcome:

Scott Guzielek

Scott GuzielekScott Guzielek is the Artistic Administrator of Washington National Opera after serving as Artistic Administration Manager since 2006. He joined the company full-time in 2002.  As Artistic Administrator, he is involved in all aspects of the artistic area of the organization, including casting, scheduling, budgeting, repertoire and season planning. He had the great privilege of working closely with Plácido Domingo during his tenure as General Director of Washington National Opera.  He was selected by Opera America to be part of the Leadership Intensive 2012, a program aimed at nurturing and training the next generation of top opera administrators and leaders.

Along with his friend and now fellow Point Foundation Trustee Jack Jacobson, Scott and several friends (known as the Wig Council) helped establish “Wig Night Out”- an annual fundraising event with a simple and fun premise- put on a wig, have a drink, and support Point Foundation!  This past January, “Wig Night Out” raised over $5,000 for Point Foundation.

Originally from Johnstown, New York, he received a B.A. with honors in Vocal Performance from the State University of New York College at Geneseo in 2001 and later earned a M.A. with distinction in Arts Management from American University in 2004. Putting his first degree to good use, he was a soloist for four years at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church.  In addition, he was a singer, soloist and board president of the Thomas Circle Singers in Washington, D.C.

Point offers mentorship, leadership development and community service training to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) students.
