Semifinalist notifications are emailed beginning at the end of January until February 20nd. Please check your email and spam regularly so you do not miss this important notification.
All materials (including letters and transcripts) must be sent together in one, large envelope, with your full name and the email address you used to apply on the outside of the envelope without ANY staples. Please do not open any sealed transcripts or recommendation letters. Letters of recommendation and transcripts may not be sent separately or via email. Due to staffing and high volume, no confirmation of materials received will be provided.
Please do NOT send any materials unless and until you receive notification that you are a semifinalist.
All supplemental materials must be received (not postmarked) by March 2, 2015. Submissions submitted earlier are most appreciated. Late and/or incomplete submissions will not be accepted. Please read through all of the requirements carefully and make sure you have everything correct before submitting.

What happens if I am a semifinalist and my professor has not submitted their recommendation before the supplementary submission deadline?
All accompanying materials for semifinalists must be received by the deadline of March 2, 2015. It is each applicant's responsibility to follow up with their references and educational institution to ensure that all the supplementary documents are received by Point on time.
If I am selected as a semifinalist, will Point let me know if you received my supplemental materials?
No, semifinalists who wish to receive confirmation of receipt of supplementary application materials should use certified mail.
If I am selected as a semifinalist, will Point let me know if I need to be part of a phone interview?
Yes, all semifinalists who receive phone interviews will be contacted between March 16-27. All semifinalists will hear back one way or another by March 27.
Lastly, Point does not provide feedback regarding submitted scholarship applications nor any part of the selections process.
For Finalists Only
Point personally notifies each finalist by email and/or phone with an invitation to attend an in-person interview with the organization's Board of Directors and executive management staff. All finalists should save the date and be prepared to submit the final information indicated below to Point no later than April 3, 2015.
Attending the in-person interview
Each finalist must interview with Point's Board of Directors and select members of the Board of Trustees and executive management staff in person in Los Angeles. Interviews are coordinated by Point and will take place between April 30 and May 3, 2015. The cost for transportation, lodging, and meals are covered by Point for all finalists traveling within the U.S.
All finalists must also attend the Point Finalist Recognition Dinner on April 30, 2015 in Los Angeles. In-person interview times will be determined at a later date.
Prior to the weekend in Los Angeles, finalists must also attend a phone orientation (date and time TBA) with other undergraduate and graduate finalists to review the weekend program and interview format.
Attendance at the finalist weekend in Los Angeles in mandatory for all finalists who wish to remain in contention for the Point Scholarship.
Finalist Items of Submission (By Email Only)
1. A Student Aid Report (Completed & accepted http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/)
This report is required and may be submitted electronically. It is a governmental document that required by colleges and universities to determine eligibility for need-based financial assistance. Falsifying information on the FAFSA carries a criminal penalty. Please fill out the form thoroughly and accurately. The deadline to submit SAR reports, New Scholar Financial Application, other requested information and a photograph is APRIL 3. 2. Additionally, Point requires submission of Point's New Scholar Financial Application and Parental Support Affidavit.
3. Finalists must review and sign Point's Contract of Excellence (COE) before final selections.
4. Submit a professional looking photograph (optional)/ preferred first name and preferred gender pronoun for nametag.
5. Submit a Point Finalist Travel Release form and reply promptly to all correspondence regarding travel arrangements for the weekend.
6. School Updates: Please email Jonathan if you have received any new acceptances or made a final decision on where you will be attending school in the fall of 2015. If you are still awaiting acceptance, or you have not yet made a final decision, please email your top 2 preferences.
7. For dissertation finalists return Point's Ph.D. academic questionnaire.
8. Submit Surveymonkey response for mentoring and media training interviews.
Final scholarship winners will be notified by June 2015.
