Brandon Kneefel

Scholar Class – 2007-08

Brandon, raised in a Christian household in Detroit, MI, was disowned by his parents at 16 because they were unable to reconcile his sexual orientation. Despite this, Brandon continued his senior year breaking track and field records, playing leads in school productions and redefining himself outside of his biological family. After high school, Brandon moved to Dallas, TX, and worked for the Resource Center of Dallas, a non-profit organization that provides health, medical and community services to GLBT person in the Dallas area. An advent believer in the importance of volunteering, Brandon has held un-paid positions as Secretary of the Dallas chapter of Young Stonewall Democrats, Intern at Triangle Foundation, media liaison for Camp OUT and Media Director for the Soulforce Equality Ride. Currently attending Pennsylvania State University in pursuit a bachelor degree in Organizational Leadership, Brandon hopes to use his education to help bring global affirmation and celebration to the queer community.
