Point Scholar 2008 – 2011
Ryan graduated with honors from Tufts University in May 2011 with a BA in political science and philosophy. During his college years, he was a leader in the LGBT community both at Tufts and abroad through his coordination of LGBT student groups and positions with organizations working on the protection of those fleeing persecution around the world based on their sexual orientation and/or gender identity. He received Tufts' Pride on the Hill Award recognizing the graduating senior who had made the greatest contributions to the LGBT community.
Ryan began his career in philanthropy working with a donor education program teaching a network of philanthropists how to deploy innovative strategies and long-term thinking to impact the causes and issues they care about. He currently holds a position in strategic partnerships and communications at a foundation seeking to build peace and promote human freedom around the world with a focus on ending modern day slavery.
Ryan hopes to continue his work in international human rights by applying models of capacity building and leadership development to the empowerment of sexual and gender minorities.
