Which program are you pursuing and what about the subject intrigues you most?

Nursing. It is a calling for me - to be able to help people at their most vulnerable moments and impact real change in their lives. It is an honor to be a part of their healthcare experience. Everyone deserves affirming and safe healthcare and I am doing everything I can to help those I cross paths with achieve it.

What are your education and career aspirations?

I want to go on for my Bachelor of Science and then work in a critical care environment. Once I have experience, I would love to get my master's and be a nurse practitioner. My areas of passion are gender affirming care, neonatology, and pediatrics.

What is a fun fact about you that few people know?

It's widely known but super fun... I have played competitive roller derby for half of my life!

What is your favorite book/movie/song and why?

The film adaptation of Phantom of the Opera. I love theater and movie versions make it super accessible to everyone. Plus, Emmy Rossum's voice is *angelic*.

What is your current favorite streaming binge and why?

Hulu has all the episodes of The Golden Girls and it is my all-time favorite show. I could watch them on repeat forever (and I do, let's be real).

In your spare time, what do you enjoy doing?

Skating, caring for my plants, eating delicious food, loving on my sweet dog, and shopping for deals and bargains.

How are you practicing self-care during this difficult time?

Daily exercise, drinking enough water (the eternal struggle), long showers and perfume every day, and baking.

How are you adjusting to remote life and what are your tips to stay motivated?

If anyone has the answer to this... let me know! LOL! I struggle with distance learning and staying engaged. The only tip I have is to turn your camera on. Hold yourself accountable and engage with those speaking with you.

As a Point Community College Scholarship Recipient, what is your message to other LGBTQ+ students?

Be unapologetically, wholeheartedly, 100% you. Pursue what you want to regardless of what others think and continue to better yourself every day. Nobody cares more about your education than you do — so go out there are fight for it. And, most importantly, be kind to yourself — you're doing your best.
