How did you hear about Point Foundation, and what made you want to become a board member?
A friend told me about the organization from a news article (I think with NYT or WSJ). I really like the organization and care about the students.
What is a fun fact about you that few people know?
I won a belt buckle for cattle roping when I was in high school.
What is your favorite book/movie/song and why?
Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day. Fun story. Great cast. Excellent writing and acting. The good guys win in the end.
In your spare time, what do you enjoy doing?
Dodgers Baseball
How are you practicing self-care during this difficult time?
Lots of telephone time with friends.
How are you adjusting to remote life and what are your tips to stay motivated?
A mixed bag. I get a lot more work done (since I am not traveling as much) but have really missed getting out of the house!
As a member of the Point Foundation Board, what is your message to LGBTQ+ students?
There is nothing you cannot accomplish - because you are smart, talented and have more people than you realize who care about you and want you to succeed.
Jim Holmes is an attorney who represents major media and entertainment entities, as well as their insurers for Clyde & Co. In August 2019, Jim became a member of the American Bar Association (ABA) Board of Governors – the first to be seated as an “at large” diversity member on behalf of the LGBT community. He advocated for the creation of the LGBT seat to the House of Delegates, to ensure equality is always addressed with foremost concern.
