Abbey Muza was raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Outed at age 13, they worked toward a just LGBTQ youth culture in their hometown. They spent their teens organizing with other LGBTQ youth – they founded and led a youth group for queer youth focused on empowerment, community engagement, and sex education.
With the aid of the Point Foundation, Abbey received a BFA in Fiber and Material Studies from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. They received their MFA at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture as a University Fellow, and in 2022 received a joint Fulbright - Harriet Hale Wooley award to France.
