Akaysha Garvey is a 24 year old Fort Lauderdale resident of Jamaican decent. Akaysha moved to the U.S in June of 2018 out of fear of my life from prosecution from her home country, Jamaica. Regardless of the struggles Akaysha faced to get here, she is a very optimistic and goal-driven individual. Being trans has not always been the best experience but it made Akaysha who she is today and it has embodied her womanhood. Akaysha enjoys watching documentaries and recently recovered her passion for videography and photography. Akaysha is currently studying to become a forensic psychologist or a forensic psychiatrist. Her goal is the to redefine mental health in the black and brown community and incorporate her experiences in the underfunded LGBTQ community.
