Alexis is a queer student, poet, and dancer from the Boston area. She realized she wanted to go into the mental health field after experiencing and witnessing the structural violence that exists within the mental health system as a teenager. She realized education is a path that would empower her to help envision and build a better world. She began her educational journey by obtaining her HiSet in 2019, she then trained and became a Certified Nursing Assistant. Alexis enrolled at Bunker Hill Community College in the fall of 2020 and is working toward completing a psychology degree. She hopes to become a dance and movement therapist in the future. She knows that historically, queer people and people of color have been harmed by the mental health system, and that healing is justice. She dreams of creating a space for her community to heal.
