Amy has spent most of their life in West Chula Vista, just 10 minutes away from Tijuana. Their experience as a nonbinary Latinx lesbian of color has led to various aspects of adversity throughout their lives. The intersections of their identity have pushed Amy towards grassroots activism and to understand community resistance as the most important method of securing their own rights, as well as the rights of others. As a first-generation college student, Amy will be the first in their family to graduate from college. They aspire to be a community college professor in order to pass on the compassion and encouragement that their community college art professors provided them. Amy wants to give others the tools they need to fight for their own dreams and love the person they are.
