Andrew grew up as a first generation, low-income student in Janesville, Wisconsin. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and political science from Arizona State University, with the support of Point Foundation. He also graduated with a master’s degree in higher education administration from Vanderbilt University and a doctorate in higher education from the University of Pennsylvania. Andrew wrote his dissertation on how disclosure of sexual orientation to one’s parents/guardians affects a student’s access to college and need-based financial aid.
Andrew is currently Director of Admissions at Swarthmore College. Prior to Swarthmore, he served as Assistant Director of Admissions at Vanderbilt for six years. He currently resides with his dog, Georgia, in South Philadelphia.
