Augustine Devi's involvement in the LGBTQ community is both extensive and enthusiastic. They view themself as a member of a variety of ecosystems, including their community college (Mt. San Antonio College) and their transfer university (University of California, Los Angeles). While at Mt. San Antonio College, they were recognized with Mt. SAC’s highest honor: Student of Distinction. Augustine has served as a Mt. SAC Pride Center student assistant, a leader for their high school and community college’s Gender-Sexuality Alliances, and also represented LGBTQ California community college students statewide as the chair of the Student Senate for California Community College’s Spectrum Caucus.
Augustine looks forward to working as the assessment and engagement intern of UCLA’s LGBTQ Campus Resource Center, in which they conduct research about the QTBIPOC population through qualitative, interview-based methodologies to find meaningful ways to better support QTBIPOC. Augustine's interests lie in asexual advocacy; their research interests include the sociology of sexualities, queer studies, and asexuality studies. As an aspiring educator, Augustine hopes to create a more involved, inclusive space for QTBIPOC individuals and communities within the context of academia.
