Brett Janecek is a Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at HBO and an MBA candidate at UCLA's Anderson School of Management. At HBO, he oversees corporate contributions, employee engagement, film festival sponsorships and brand activation, and prosocial and social advocacy initiatives. Currently, he is working on an educational anti-bullying project with GLSEN and the HBO Documentary, Valentine Road. Prior to joining HBO, Brett ran a Mobile DJ Production business, played an On-Air Radio Personality, managed theatre productions, and administered institutional and artistic development programs with a client roster that includes the Book of Mormon on Broadway, Public Theater/New York Shakespeare Festival, National Playwrights Conference, Humana Festival at Actors Theatre of Louisville, and American Musical Theater Project. Born and raised in Montana, Brett attended the University of Notre Dame where he studied politics, philosophy and economics and graduated from Northwestern University with a BA in theatre history and cultural criticism. He was awarded an Iowa Arts Fellowship and earned his MFA in theatre (dramaturgy) from the University of Iowa Playwrights Workshop. Brett works very closely with a national educational non-profit, Spark and AIDS Project Los Angeles. He also competes in marathons and triathalons to raise money for non-profit causes in the LA area. He is committed to creating businesses and partnerships that drive the bottom line while creating positive social impact.
