Brett Shaia grew up in a small midwestern town in Indiana. They came out as gay in middle school and were bullied the rest of their school life in Indiana. In their early life, Brett struggled with housing displacement and found stability through the LGBT community. They are a fine arts student at Wilbur Wright Community College and plan on transferring to The Art Institute for their bachelor’s degree. Eventually, Brett plans to obtain a master’s degree and pursue a career in architecture.
