BIPOC

Dylan Blackett, the child of Caribbean immigrants, was raised in the quaint town of Snellville, Georgia, and grew up in a predominately immigrant neighborhood. Being a part of this rich and diverse community inspires Dylan to fight against the disparities faced by these marginalized populations. Dylan dedicated his high school summers to volunteering with the Horizons Summer Learning Program at Georgia Tech to promote equitable learning within Atlanta’s underserved community. Currently, Dylan is a junior majoring in neuroscience at Pomona College. He has partnered with numerous on-campus organizations such as the Black Student Union, Queer Resource Center, and the Center for Speaking, Writing, and Image. In his summers, Dylan volunteered at Bellevue Hospital in New York City through Project Health Care, completed a funded research project into sustainable soap making, and interned at Xerox for marketing analytics. Currently, Dylan is a health advocate coordinator for Health Bridges, leading a cohort of 30+ college volunteers to fulfill their shared mission of assisting limited English proficiency and low-income hospital patients in the Inland Empire to receive equitable care and access to free health insurance (HPE). Dylan aspires to become a neuropsychiatrist and use his platform to advocate for queer POC and immigrants.
