Emily Juneau

Smith College

Political Science

Emily was born in California and raised in Quebec, Canada and Reno, Nevada. During her time in high school, Emily founded and was president of the Student Diversity Council and participated in various charities and community service projects. She volunteered at the local health clinic for the homeless, participated in Multiple Sclerosis and Breast Cancer walks and created commissioned art to benefit RAINN (Rape, Abuse, Incest and Neglect Network for Victims). Emily also worked with RAINN to distribute literature and publicly speak to her classmates to bring awareness about rape education and the femicides of Juarez. Her work with each of these charities opened her eyes to the reality that sexism, homophobia, racism and classism still exist in America, and inspired her to dedicate herself to advancing social change. A graduate of Smith College, Emily majored in political science with a focus on public health and minority women's rights.
