Lands’ End Scholarship
Emily Mammel, an out and proud queer and nonbinary person, has long known that she wanted to help people in the healthcare field. In high school she joined the Health Technology course through her district’s career center and took her first trip in an ambulance as a health provider at age sixteen. By 2014 at age 18, Emily had become an EMT and three years later became a paramedic. Following a devastating back injury that left her unable to work the road, Emily started the journey to becoming a nurse. Today, Emily is one year away from achieving her degree in nursing. In her free time, she enjoys reading and enjoying quality time with her partner, their dog Gatsby, and their 4 cats. She looks forward to continuing to help those in need and to someday becoming a nurse practitioner.
