Gabriela (she/her) is a queer brown femme currently pursuing her Master of Social Work at Columbia University with a concentration in advanced clinical practice. She received her undergraduate degree in Chicanx/Central American studies from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she gained a deep understanding of how mental health is situated within the context of power, oppression, and intersectionality. Since 2018 she has worked with QTBIPOC folks in diverse capacities, including counseling, crisis intervention, advocacy, and youth education. Gabriela has worked within this community, addressing concerns such as sexual violence, gender and sexuality, QTBIPOC experiences, and body image. Through her work, she has practiced non-western forms of healing, medicine, and therapy. Gabriela is continuing this labor of love within her community by providing therapy at Express Yourself Therapy. She employs a therapeutic approach rooted in holistic wellness, client autonomy, and liberatory frameworks.
Gabriela is passionate about the thriving and holistic wellness of the QTBIPOC community, as well as walks in the park, herbalism, food, dancing, connection, and creative expression. She hopes to continuously grow professionally, spiritually, emotionally, intellectually, and collectively.
