Writing-Intensive English and Theatre Arts
Garrett is a Point alumnus, graduating magna cum laude from Marquette University with a double major in writing-intensive English and theater arts with the help of a Point Scholarship. He was the first deaf student to graduate from Marquette in a full hearing program, and served in various leadership positions including four years on the freshman orientation staff and two terms as president of the Gay-Straight Alliance. GarrettÕs first play, 'Judgment Day,' made its debut in Melbourne, Australia, and he made his professional acting debut at the internationally known Skylight Opera Theatre. Garrett won the Jean Kennedy Smith national playwriting award for one of his own plays, 'Quid Pro Quo,' the first student-written or -directed play ever entered in the American College Theatre Festival competition by Marquette. His aim is to create positive and lasting images of diversity by using his talents in the entertainment industry.
