Gill was raised by a single dad of three girls, who always said that hard work and perseverance would take you anywhere in life. He would encourage them to be ‘tom boys’ and refused to let them quit anything. When Gill moved to Texas, she was able to create a support system she had not had before. Her friends showed her unconditional love and support and she was able to use her dad’s lessons to their full extent. She became more confident in herself and her abilities.
