Time Warner Point Scholar

Jacob hails from small-town Texas, where traditionalist ideologies take precedence over expressions of gender and sexual identity. The son of a Vietnam Marine, Jacob avoided acknowledging he was gay by focusing on academics – he became President of his class and Drum Major of the band, graduated Summa Cum Laude and was chosen the Most Likely to Succeed student by his high school classmates. Jacob is now a graduate of Columbia University, where he focused heavily on gender and LGBTQ issues. A regular on the Dean's List, he was the recipient of the Time Warner Foundation Award for LGBT Leadership, the GM Award for Leadership in Diversity and was a distinguished graduate for his leadership in Columbia's LGBTQ community. After graduating, he received the Gill Foundation Social Innovation Fellowship and subsequently co-authored a guide for corporations on how to build strategic partnerships with LGBTQ organizations. Jacob plans to attend business school and continue working in corporate philanthropic initiatives.
