Originally from Tucson, Arizona, Jamie Weinand majored in Spanish and Biology at Duke University and participated in a Fulbright Scholarship in Mexico City before attending medical school at Boston University School of Medicine. During medical school he advocated for LGBT health equality and was accepted into family medicine residency at the Southern New Mexico Family Medicine Program in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He is also a nationally certified Spanish healthcare interpreter with CCHI and is interested in medical education, family medicine, primary care, universal healthcare, LGBT equality, Spanish language and advancing healthcare along the Mexican-American border.
