Kelly Zhang did not give up her struggle. In a conservative country and society, she actively advocated gender equality and sexual minority rights. She publicly came out and carried out affirmative action in Chinese universities though she has experienced threats from the school's top management, the police, and the national public security agency. She founded and organized a campus feminist group to create a safe, inclusive and diverse mutual aid space for campus women Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, China, and she was an active member of the lesbian group of Wuhan LGBT Center to help local lesbian community. Kelly is now studying in the United States and participating in local LGBTQ groups, she hopes to get her undergraduate degree in philosophy and apply for a master's degree in psychology to help more sexual minorities in the professional field.
