Luis Verbera is an aspiring business person with big plans for the future. With his mother working as a teacher of children with special needs, and a father who is a food service worker, Luis has learned the importance of working for what you want. Luis is pursuing a degree in Business Administration and has entrepreneurial aspirations. Born and raised in San Jose, California, the hustle and bustle of the Silicon Valley has shown Luis the flaws with modern large-scale corporations. Luis plans on creating a workspace where workers are treated fairly and with respect as more than just employees, but rather equal human beings. Unfortunately, Luis has suffered from the “machismo mentality” that many other Hispanic individuals have suffered from as well. Luis has always suppressed his true self in order to align to cultural norms. However, this suffering has made Luis stronger and he plans to take on this mindset firsthand and hopefully help others struggling like him along the way. Luis is a biracial, queer individual who believes that there is not enough open representation of similar individuals in the modern, corporate workforce. After transferring to a four-year university in the Fall of 2020 and later receiving his degree, Luis plans on experiencing corporate America firsthand, and then changing it into a more equal playing field for all individuals regardless of background.
