Nancy Berger grew up in the heart of Appalachia to a conservative family. With the support and love of her survivor’s community she worked for several years as a Certified Peer Specialist on a mobile crisis team in Boston. She has a passion for science, in particular the intersection of public health and technology and went back to school. She is currently a Biotechnology major at Roxbury Community College in Boston, Massachusetts. This past year she has been an intern at both Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. From these experiences she knows she wants to get into biotech research. In her spare time, she is an activist for change in the mental health system. She volunteers at a mental health program in Boston sharing her lived experience to initiate change and to foster hope with others.
