Nelson Jarrin was born and raised in Guayaquil, Ecuador. At age 23, he came to America, where he discovered he could live a free life as a young, gay man. It turned out to be quite a challenge — he lived and worked on the margins of society. The legalization of gay marriage gave him the opportunity to legalize his status. Nelson married his partner Dave on July 26th, 2013. Today, he is taking full advantage of what America has to offer. Nelson is an honor student at LaGuardia Community College while working part-time in New York City. He is active in the LGBTQ community at LaGuardia and hopes to be a social worker with the LGBTQ community when he finishes school.
