Nicole Viloria is an English Literature student at The Honors College at Miami Dade College, aiming to transfer to a Comparative Literature program. As a lover of languages, writing, and reading since she was living in Venezuela, she wishes to translate novels and write novels of her own. She graduated from Felix Varela High School at the top 1% of her class. At Miami Dade College, she won second place at the Ghost Story Contest, which earned her the publication of her story at the library’s digital Learning Commons website. As former president of the Spanish Honor Society, she organized Christmas toy drives for kids in the Dominican Republic. Now, she tutors a student from Ukraine once a week to help her practice her English. She has researched Gloria Naylor’s novels and presented it at the Humanities Education Research Association 2022 conference. She is also the founding secretary of Gamma Eta, the chapter of Sigma Kappa Delta English Honor Society and part of the editorial staff at Urbana Literary & Arts magazine. As someone who has struggled with accepting herself, including her accent and sexual orientation, she wishes to help others navigate those internal struggles through literacy and stories.
