Rick graduated from Columbia University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Earth and Environmental Engineering and a concentration in Sustainable Energy and Materials. While attending Columbia, he helped organize Columbia’s Queer Awareness Month and managed the Stephen Donaldson Lounge, an on-campus safe space for queer students on campus. As a graduate student at Columbia he was also active in iQ, Columbia’s science and engineering LGBTQ student group. After graduation, Rick returned to the San Francisco Bay Area to work in the sustainability field, using data and graphics to help organizations understand and manage their operations in a way that minimizes negative impacts on the environment. He currently works as a sustainability data analyst at Levi Strauss & Co. and lives in Oakland, CA. Rick is an advocate for a diverse, harmonious, and thriving planet for all living things.
