Soul Stough is a first-generation psychology student at Austin Community College, where they are a gold level member of Phi Theta Kappa, founder and president of the PRIDE Club, vice president of the Psychology Club, a peer tutor, and an Honors Scholar candidate. Soul has been actively involved in the LGBTQ community since early 2013, participating in formal political discussions for gay marriage rights, serving as a panel speaker at Gender Odyssey in 2014 on the topic of colonization and gender, and compiling resources for at-risk LGBTQ youth. They have additionally created peer-support spaces for adult survivors of abuse which have been mentioned in the European Journal of Psychotraumatology. To achieve their goal of accessible and compassionate care for marginalized trauma survivors, Soul plans to become a clinical psychologist specializing in complex trauma and dissociation. Eventually, they would like to serve as a committee member for the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation to provide training seminars for other trauma specialists and enact a wider change in how mental healthcare professionals treat BIPOC trauma survivors.
