Meet Our Scholars

Born in California, and seemingly raised all over, Tristan Azevedo has found himself at home in central Wisconsin’s Wausau greater area. Moving around constantly growing up with a single mother brought its fair share of personal and financial hardships and challenges in Tristan’s early life. Without a sense of place, the only two constants in Tristan’s life was his dog and mother. Tristan fully immersed himself in the world of books and the great outdoors. Tristan found himself constantly inspired by his mother and the adventures of his various readings. Being gay, and predominantly raised in smaller conservative towns, Tristan grew up learning to protect himself and stray away from many people. Tristan currently lives in a middle-sized town in Wisconsin with his fat cat, many plants, and significant other. He currently works full-time in youth behavioral health, attends North Central Technical College for Nursing, and plans to transfer to a university to obtain his BSN after becoming an RN.

Tristan’s dream is to become a Nurse Practitioner and wants to be a provider that will offer guidance to youth and adults who face struggles because of being a part of the LGBTQ+ community. Until then, Tristan remains active in advocating for youth mental health initiatives and various trips to local greenhouses.
