He/Him

BIPOC

Victor Chambers was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He moved to Los Angeles ten years ago and lived undocumented for six years, a period of time that changed his life and perspective on the world. He thankfully found love and his now-husband helped him become a permanent resident. Victor is currently in the process of becoming a citizen of the United States.

Victor has more than 10 years of work experience as a store manager, bank teller, personal assistant, and more. He is now working as a mentor in the Peer Navigator Program at Santa Monica College, a program focused on assisting financially vulnerable students of color. While undocumented, Victor was afraid to get "caught" so he focused on donating to organizations and causes he was passionate about. Since then, he started volunteering and has helped at institutions such as the Radical Hood Library.

He is deeply interested in Latin America and Africa and wishes to dedicate his life to the advancement of LGBTQ, immigration, indigenous, and human rights. Victor is pursuing a double major in political science and Latin American studies and is committed to tying environmental causes to all of his social work.
