Waverly Rocklin is a lesbian nurse, athlete, and musical enthusiast currently living in San Diego. She is actively pursuing a degree in nursing at San Diego City College, with plans to transfer to a 4-year university to complete her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. Her future aspirations include further involvement in gender affirming healthcare for the LGBTQIA+ community and a Master’s or Doctorate in neonatology. Her love and dedication for neonates and critically ill children stems from her family’s involvement in the Foster Care system as a foster family to many medically abused and alcohol/drug-addicted children. The children she welcomed into her home affected her in a profound way. The care and love she and her family provided to them drive her desire to provide safe and competent care for the most vulnerable patients. Her love and dedication to the LGBT community comes from her own queer identity, her gay parents, and deviation from the standard nuclear family structure she grew up with. She has played competitive banked track roller derby for the past 11 years and coaches/mentors junior derby (children of all genders, ages 7-17). Waverly loves The Golden Girls, dogs, food of all kinds, and glitter.
