Exploring the Struggles within the LGBTQ Community

I am a senior at the University of Michigan majoring in social theory and practice. Social theory and practice is a build-your-own-major option where you are able to choose a focus within the social science field and take courses from different departments to fulfill distribution requirements. All students in the major are required to complete […]

Scholar Mary Susman Reflects on Out for Work Conference

I am incredibly grateful that Point sent me to the Out for Work conference in Chicago Sept. 27-29.  During this  weekend in Chicago I was able to not only face a looming fear I have as a graduating senior—what in the world will I be doing a year from now?—but do something about it. I’ll […]

Scholar Cary Crall Reflects on Conference for Gay & Lesbian Mormons

When my Mormon ancestors first trekked the thousands of miles from the Eastern United States to Utah’s Salt Lake Valley, it was to escape persecution because of their non-traditional views on marriage. Just over 150 years later, I found myself walking their journey in reverse. While a senior at Brigham Young University, I wrote […]

LGBTQ Scholars Will Not Be Erased

Your support is vital. This year, hundreds of homophobic, transphobic, and anti-LGBTQ bills have been proposed and adopted as law in states around the country. As the LGBTQ and allied communities combat these bills, Point continues to support LGBTQ students in higher ed though scholarships, mentoring, coaching and programming to help students find success at school. Join us in supporting the resilience of the LGBTQ community as anti-LGBTQ legislation sweeps the United States.
