Ask A Scholar: What can I do to make my application stand out?

Written by Eugene Patron | May 10, 2016

Question: "I applied for this scholarship for the first time, but I did not make the final cut. What can I do differently next time to make my application stand out?"

Point Scholar Ishan Asokan responds:

"I can’t help but empathize since I was rejected twice before being admitted into my scholar class. Making it to the semifinalist stage for two years served as a test of my patience, commitment, and persistence. This gave me more of a compelling narrative when I was finally interviewed and successfully admitted the third time. As each year went by, I may have been denied, but I certainly accrued several more achievements and made more contributions to the community I wished to represent. Demonstrating resilience, maintaining your drive, and continuing to change the world you live in will lend you success. I, recommend applying again, as it will only give you more to say and less to prove. It worked for me."
