What college/university are you attending and what made you choose it?
I am attending Dartmouth College this fall! I fell in love with Dartmouth because of its commitment to a stellar and personal undergraduate education, world-class faculty with small class sizes, the friendly campus community, and the wonderful New Hampshire wilderness.
Which program are you pursuing and what about the subject intrigues you most?
I currently plan on majoring in government and history as an undergraduate! History teaches critical lessons that help contextualize the issues that government grapples with. I have found that history and government provide a beautiful nexus in my top academic interests: 20th-century history, LGBTQ+ history, and judicial history.
What are your career aspirations?
My biggest dream is to one day become a U.S. Supreme Court justice. Regardless of where my career takes me, I would just be overjoyed to pursue equal justice under the law and continue my study of constitutional law.
What is a fun fact about you that few people know?
I am a quadruplet with three amazing brothers: Alex, Kevin, and Ryan.
What is your favorite book/movie/song and why?
My favorite song at the moment is A Rose in Spanish Harlem by Nicholas Britell. It's such a beautiful movie soundtrack song, and its tune encourages me to strive on.
What is your current favorite streaming binge?
I don't really watch streaming shows, but I do enjoy watching parkour videos by the YouTube channel Storror.
In your spare time, what do you enjoy doing?
In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, walking, reading, and biking! I also enjoy meeting new people and exploring the world around me.
How are you practicing self-care during this difficult time?
I have made it a practice to go on nightly walks. These walks are a great place to clear my mind, reflect on my day, and set my intentions for the days to come.
How are you adjusting to remote life and what are your tips to stay motivated?
As I adjust to remote life, I have been more mindful of my capacity and balancing physical, social, & educational commitments. Google Calendar is very helpful for keeping track of commitments and visually seeing how I am spending my time! In terms of motivation, a helpful tip is to turn off your phone or hide it out of sight when trying to complete readings! Taking away such an easy distraction has been helpful for me.
As a Point Scholar, what is your message to other LGBTQ+ students?
You got this! Just know that I am rooting for you on your path. This remote and online world is an adjustment we never imagined making, but I know how strong y'all are. I send all my love, hugs, and reassurance that college is a beautiful place to explore your interests and form community.
