Why advocate for LGBTQ rights on campus?
LGBTQ people are facing unprecedented challenges nationwide because of homophobic and transphobic legislation, restricting the rights of LGBTQ people to use public facilities, join athletic teams, and removing LGBTQ lessons and identities from the classroom. These modern challenges add to the existing hurdles LGBTQ college students already face such as disproportionate debt, poorer mental health, and increased bullying and mistreatment, when compared to their peers.

A while back for Point’s blog we went into the history of the word “homosexual”- if we go into the history of the word “transgender,” we see how blurry these lines are.
