These 36 Young People are the Future of the LGBTQ Community!

Point Foundation is providing scholarships and mentoring to a new class of 36 incredibly talented and ambitious LGBTQ young people who are the future leaders of society.  They are on their way to becoming doctors, lawyers, professors, politicians and scientists, while also working hard to advance LGBTQ equality.  Here are three dozen LGBTQ students to root for and keep an eye on:

Adrienne Adams – Occidental College

Will write children’s literature that illuminates the complexities of queer and genderqueer identity.

Erick Aguilar – Duke University

Will create safer environments for LGBTQ students at Duke University and the Durham community.

Will use nanorobots to treat cancer.

Will be a champion for the Latino and LGBTQ communities.

Will reduce health disparities by combating mental health, educational, structural and sociopolitical factors.

Will lead the charge for LGBTQ inclusivity in law.

Will create technology to improve the lives of disabled adults and children.

Will help to protect the Earth through environmental engineering.

Will implement his anti-bullying curriculum that he created, The Be ONE Project, in middle school classrooms across the nation.

Brian Kaplun; human biology; Stanford University

Will educate other medical professionals on LGBTQ+ issues, like mental and sexual health.

Will continue to help bisexual women recover from sexual violence through the Bi Women’s Support Network, which she created.

Will research Black politics and contemporary social movements and push for a society in which everyone is made to feel empowered and enthused about life.
