Evaluate Applications

Application readers evaluate applications submitted each winter.

Reader Program: Scholarship application readers use Point’s rubric to evaluate a minimum of 30 applications. Readers participate in virtual training orientation to our online review platform and scoring process. Each reader then works independently to review their assigned applications.

Qualifications: Readers must be available to participate in training and able to review their assigned applications during the review period.

Mentor Scholars

Provide a small group of students with guidance to help them achieve their goals.

Leadership Program

Mentors will participate in Point leadership workshops and facilitate virtual break-out sessions with groups of 4-10 scholars. Our leadership workshops are grounded in Point’s four leadership pillars—Purpose, Strength, Champions, and Wellness—and provide scholars with opportunities for leadership development, career exploration, and community building.

Qualifications

Mentors must demonstrate commitment to centering the experiences of LGBTQ+ and ally students. Before meeting with scholars, mentors complete a background check, interviewand training. Point provides facilitation guides, resources, and support.

Join a Board or Committee

Boards and committees steer the growth and development of Point.

Board and committee membership: Boards and committees must meet quarterly or as needed, boards have a minimum give-get requirement, and each board and committee has a unique required term.

Qualifications: Specialize in the topic area covered by the board you wish to join.

Create a Scholarship

Point offers donors the opportunity to designate a named scholarship that recognizes and acknowledges a specific source, whether it be the donor, an individual or an institution they wish to honor.

Leave a Legacy

Many donors demonstrate commitment to Point through bequests in their wills. Point works with these legacy donors and their executors to meet the wishes of the donor and the needs of scholarship recipients.

Fundraise for Point

Facebook users can set up online fundraisers to benefit Point and invite people to participate. It’s also easy to add a donation button to your posts and encourage your friends to support Point.
