Award Details
Award funds may be used to cover out-of-pocket costs associated with a summer professional development activity. Activities can include participation in an academic or professional conference, faculty-supervised research, internships, practicums and capstones, and other activities that will help you advance toward your academic and professional goals.
Amount: Up to $5,000
Funding Period: June 1 – September 15

Eligibility & Requirements
Scholarship Eligibility:
- Must be enrolled in a degree-seeking program at an accredited U.S. postsecondary institution in the spring 2026 academic term.
- Must apply with a professional development opportunity set during the summer of 2026.
- Must be a member of the LGBTQ+ community or an ally.
HIV/AIDS Research, Services, and Advocacy
The LGBTQ+ community is disproportionately impacted by HIV infections. The Kadel and Gerhardt Internships seek to support the next generation of professionals in the field of HIV/AIDS research, services, and advocacy. HIV/AIDS is a multifaceted challenge that requires leaders across disciplines and sectors. The Kadel and Gerhardt Internships allow promising students and recent graduates the opportunity to explore or further a career dedicated to responding to HIV/AIDS and supporting individuals living with HIV/AIDS.

The Kadel & Gerhardt Internships
These internships are being generously funded in memoriam of donors who devoted their lives to serving gay men affected by HIV/AIDS. Point seeks to support the next generation of researchers, advocates, and care providers who are interested working with the LGBTQ+ community of HIV-positive and high-risk individuals by funding their summer internship opportunities.

Eligibility

Must apply with an unpaid internship set during the summer of 2026.

Internship must be related to the field of HIV/AIDS research, advocacy, and/or services.
