Flagship Scholarship

The Point Foundation Flagship Scholarship empowers LGBTQ+ and ally students who are pursuing undergraduate, graduate, or professional degrees at  accredited colleges and universities in the United States by  offering financial support, community resources, and professional  development.

Scholarship Details

Flagship Scholarship recipients receive financial support, access to leadership development programs,  and the support of a community of scholars and alumni. 

Amount: Financial award based on need, renewable for up to four years of support.

Funding Period: Awarded Scholars will start their scholarship in the fall 2026 term, with a maximum of four years of support.

Are You Eligible?

The Flagship Scholarship is for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and ally students earning a bachelor’s, graduate, or professional  degree.

Scholarship Eligibility

  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3.
  • Full-time enrollment in a a degree-seeking undergraduate, graduate, or professional program at an accredited, not-for-profit college or university in the United States.
  • Connection and commitment to the LGBTQ+ and ally community.
  • If previously awarded a Point Scholarship, applicants must have exited their former program with active status.
  • Must be at least a senior in high school.

Scholarship Ineligibility

  • Students enrolled in 100% online degree programs.
  • Students who have already been awarded four years of the Point Foundation Flagship Scholarship.
  • Applicants and their immediate family members who have had a formal relationship with Point Foundation as an employee, board member, or volunteer are not eligible to apply.

Beyond Financial Support

Being a Point Scholar means more than receiving financial support for your  college tuition and fees. Point Flagship Scholars have access to  programs and resources to help them succeed in their academic journeys. 

Career Development

Point offers a variety of leadership and career development opportunities for scholars throughout the year. These opportunities include virtual  workshops and in-person events, such as national conferences. Flagship  Scholars attend an in-person summer conference and one virtual program  each academic term. 

Community Connections

With over one thousand LGBTQ+ and ally alumni and supporters ready to help  build your network, scholars can connect with the Point community  members with shared areas of study and interests.

Common Scholarship Submission Questions

Scholars have access to funds at the start of fall term. Point does not support summer study.

The Flagship Scholarship application is open from September through early  December, and Point does not accept Flagship applications outside of  this timeframe. While there is no benefit to early submission, Point highly recommends applicants submit their applications as soon as they have their materials ready. All complete applications submitted by the deadline receive equal consideration.

Prior applicants do not have access to past application materials. You must create a new user profile and application to re-apply this year. Previous applications for Point Scholarships have no impact on the review of current applications.
