The Point Foundation Vocational Award aims to support the development of technical expertise in LGBTQ+ and ally students who are enrolled in non-degree seeking career focused or vocational programs at City Colleges of Chicago. Selected students will receive a one-time financial award to offset the cost of their education as well as access to leadership and professional development.

The Point Foundation Vocational Award aims to support the development of technical expertise in LGBTQ+ and ally students who are enrolled in non-degree seeking career focused or vocational programs at City Colleges of Chicago. Selected students will receive a one-time financial award to offset the cost of their education as well as access to leadership and professional development.

Award Details

The Vocational Award from Point Foundation provides financial and community support to students who are pursuing career and vocational training at City Colleges of Chicago.

This award is not intended to support the pursuit of an associate degree. Associate degree-seeking students are encouraged to apply for the
Point Community College Scholarship 

Amount: $2,000 

Funding Period: Awarded students will receive funding for the spring 2026 (January-May) term. Funding is provided for a single academic term. Students will receive $1,500 at the being of their program’s term and will receive the final $500 at the end of their term after completion of any program requirements.  

Application

September 30, 9:00 a.m. PST/12:00 p.m. EST: Point Vocational Award application opens online.  

December 5, 5:00 p.m. PST/8:00 p.m. EST: Application closes.

Eligibility & Requirements

Scholarship Eligibility:

  • Must be enrolled or intending to enroll in a career-focused certificate or vocational training program at the City Colleges of Chicago system.
  • Must use award funds at any City Colleges of Chicago institution during the term the scholarship was awarded.
  • Must be enrolled in one or more credit-bearing classes for the funded term.

Scholarship Ineligibility:

  • Students enrolled in 100% online programs.
  • Applicants and their immediate family members who have had a formal relationship with Point Foundation as an employee, board member, or volunteer are not eligible to apply.
  • Students enrolled in degree-seeking programs unrelated to professional certifications/vocational training.

Beyond Financial Support

Point Vocational Awardees have access to programs and resources to help them succeed in their professional journeys.   

Leadership Development

Vocational Award recipients have access to virtual leadership events and panel discussions. 

Awardee Benefits 

Scholars recieve access to HRC's digital wellness platform WorthIt, a six-month period of counseling with BetterHelp professionals, and a community of LGBTQ+ and ally alumni and supporters ready to help build your network.
