What college/university are you attending and what made you choose it?

Stanford School of Medicine - I chose it because it offered so many opportunities to combine my interest in clinical medicine, research and advocacy.

Which program are you pursuing and what about the subject intrigues you most?

I am pursuing my medical degree. I am passionate about addressing the impact of inequity on health, and in caring for LGBTQIA+ folks, particularly when it comes to their mental health.

What are your career aspirations?

I aspire to be a psychiatrist with a focus in LGBTQIA+ health and wellness. I am also interested in being involved with advocacy and policy work around furthering the health of our community.

What is a fun fact about you that few people know?

I can crack nearly every bone in my body on command!

What is your favorite book/movie/song and why?

Honestly, every time I read or watch something new and good, it's my favorite in that moment! I don't have an all time favorite for anything. I just finished "Love in the Time of Cholera" so I guess that's my current favorite book!

In your spare time, what do you enjoy doing?

Spending time with loved ones! I also like to (try to) grow my plants and vegetable garden, play around with graphic design, and explore new places.

How are you practicing self-care during this difficult time?

I've started taking care of plants, and am attempting to start my own vegetable garden! It's helped me feel centered and connected to something positive, even with the chaos around us.

How are you adjusting to remote life and what are your tips to stay motivated?

My clinical education is primarily in person, but of course, social events are still remote. Reminding myself to enjoy the moment and try to prioritize having fun has been really important.

As a Point Scholar, what is your message to other LGBTQ+ students?

Your identity is your superpower - the self-knowledge, discovery, and truth you will uncover because of that journey of identity will bring you liberation. Embrace it and love yourself wholly and completely.
