Why did you choose your major or program?
I chose to study Ethics, Politics, and Economics because I am fascinated by the intersection of the three disciplines and their potential to enrich my understanding of the world. I believe this degree will equip me with the knowledge I need to do my part in giving back to my communities, including the LGBTQ+ community.
What is a fun fact about you that few people know?
As an infant, I vomited on John Stamos.
What is your favorite song and why?
My favorite song is “Holocene” by Bon Iver because it beautifully captures my recognition of personal insignificance in the universe. This realization has given me the perspective I need to stop being so hard on myself over fleeting inconveniences and develop the emotional capacity to divert more attention to how I can make the world a better place.
What is your current favorite streaming binge and why?
I am a forever fan of Black Mirror, because I find the storylines incredibly well done and fascinatingly relevant to the state of the world.
What is your favorite hobby or activity you like to do in your free time?
I love to exercise by going to the gym, hiking, snowboarding, or bouldering.
How do you practice self-care?
I practice self-care by meditating, exercising, and following the advice of Max Ehrmann’s “Desiderata,” which reads: “Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.”
How are you adjusting to the "new normal" as we're emerging from this pandemic? Do you have any tips for other students who are going back to college this semester?
I am excited to have a more normal freshman year of university than was my senior year. My tips for students returning to college this semester are to have fun but be cautious, as the pandemic is not yet over. The smarter we act now, the sooner we emerge from this.
